The True Value of God’s Word

March 9, 2018

The National Bible Bee is blessed with amazing alumni who demonstrate through their lives the blessing of having God’s Word in their hearts. Amanda Hasegawa competed in the National Bible Bee Competition during a few of her middle school and high school years. She is now studying nursing and in her fourth year of university, yet the Lord still uses the verses she memorized all those years ago to minister to and through her:

“I had a draining 12-hour shift at a psychiatric ward yesterday. I could feel the effects of gospel amnesia and anemia. So, as I was getting ready for bed, I prayed that God would remind me of His truth. I was tired of the self-focus and wanted to praise HIM. And He, Faithful God, answered. This morning, while I was still waking up, 1 Peter 2:9-10 began playing in my mind: But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. As these words played in my mind repeatedly, I thanked the Lord for His kindness. And I realized that this was a National Bible Bee passage from years ago.

“I am grateful to God and grateful for National Bible Bee. The Word is a ravaging sword, but it also brings refreshment. National Bible Bee carries value FAR beyond a stage or a stack of money. It is literally about God’s life getting into us and flowing through us in every situation, every interaction. I pray that the competitors wouldn’t lose sight of this amid the studying. May the Lord encourage your heart and strengthen you to carry on!”
