Participating in the National Bible Bee is a wonderful opportunity to explore God’s word, but studying with a host group is a great way to connect with others in your community to be inspired and helped in studying. Not every NBB host group will be the same, but they all share a common goal to unlock the scriptures and “To know God’s Word and make Him known.”
For the Luo family, being part of a NBB host group is a great time of fellowship and encouragement. Every family in the group prepares different questions based off of what they are currently studying, and there is even some fun competition! The games can differ from meeting to meeting. One idea is to have participants go around saying a passage one word at a time, another could be having different online quiz platforms such as kahoot or flip quiz to compete as a group, and closer to the end of the NBB summer study, there could even be a mock Proclaim! Day!
There is also plenty of time to share study tips and resources with everyone! Some people know a great way to learn cross references, while others may have an easier time finding Greek/Hebrew words, and others may find they really enjoy creating different study resources for everyone to use. Whichever the case, every family in the group can be encouraged and help others in their study of the scriptures.
Although a lot of time can be devoted to studying and learning, the fellowship is also an important part of being in a NBB host group. Not only do families get to inspire other families to dig into God’s word, but they also get to be in each other’s lives and share with what they have been going through.
Being in a NBB host group is an overall benefit in every way! It connects us to the NBB community, allows us to be inspired and motivates us to explore more of the Scriptures. It brings families new to the NBB, and families that have been in it for a while, to work together to discover all the different things that have been learned through the years, and it is a great time of fellowship with one another!
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. -Hebrews 10:24-25
