As parents, our primary God-given responsibility and privilege is to teach our children to know the Word and to make Him known! This awesome, God-given task was designed by God to make a powerful, long-term impact for the glory of God. Joel 1:2 summarizes this truth, “Tell your children about it, let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.” There is potential for a three fold impact when we engage our children in studying eternal truth. The potential reaches not only to our children, but also to any future grandchildren and even great-grandchildren!
One of the realities for my wife and I, as we host a National Bible Bee Summer Study group in our local community, is we not only have the opportunity to impact our own family, but our family is able to impact others who desire to know more about the Lord. How special to see a young person, who has no other godly influence in their life, recite a Bible verse. How precious to encourage an entire family that is striving to live for the glory of God as we meet together in the Summer. In all the opportunities, the potential influence through hosting the NBB Summer Study spans not only to this generation, but also to the generations to come.
We have had the privilege of watching God use National Bible Bee and the Summer Study ministry to encourage our own children! And through hosting we have seen a ripple effect in our community that has extended to watching a participant memorize her very first verse to seeing solid Christians grow deeply in their walk with the Lord as they have engaged in the study and memorization of God’s Word. And as a host it is a privilege to be a small part of the big things the Lord will do through His Word as it captures the hearts of young people in this generation and the generations to come!
