Frequently Asked Questions: Summer Study

What is the Summer Study?

The Summer Study is an inductive Bible study and Scripture memory summer program, and it is also the beginning of a national competition that culminates in over $100,000 in prizes. Learn more at biblebee.org/summer-study.

What is the Discovery Journal?

The Discovery Journal is a study guide designed to teach kids how to study Scripture. Using the inductive study method, kids learn tools to apply to their own study as they dig deeper into God’s Word. All Summer Study registration packages include a PDF copy of the Discovery Journal. Check out samples at biblebee.org/discovery-journal

What Bible version is used?

Participants can choose from five Bible versions: ESV, KJV, NASB (2020), NIV, and NKJV. The Discovery Journal is written in such a way that the students can use their own Bible to answer the questions. The memory passage cards are provided in the version chosen at registration.

What if we aren’t interested in the competition part?

That’s fine! The competition is really just a way to help motivate people to seek the real treasure—God’s Word. You are free to enjoy the wonderful NBB community and the excellent inductive study and memory passages and the motivating local group. The National Bible Bee Competition (NBBC) Qualifying Test is optional.

Who can register?

Students 7-18 years old can officially compete, but there is a curriculum available for the 5-6 year olds too. Non-US citizens are welcome to participate in the Summer Study but are not able to compete for prize money. Register at biblebee.org/summer-study.

What if I am not a US citizen?

Non-US citizens are welcome to participate in all aspects of the Summer Study. Unfortunately due to legislature regarding prize money, non-US citizens are unable to compete for prize money.

How much does it cost to register for the Summer Study?

Packages allow parents to choose the best option for their family. Starting in March, packages start at $20. Register at biblebee.org/summer-study.

If I have multiple kids in the same age division, can I just register one?

No. Each registration is specific to the child’s information given. At the end of the Summer Study only the kids registered are able to take the NBBC Qualifiying Test to see what they learned over the summer.

Can I order the Discovery Journal without registering?

Discovery Journals, both present year and past years, are available on our store based on quantity. If you order the Discovery Journal from the store, you do not receive any other benefits from the Summer Study and are not able to compete. Check out our store at shop.biblebee.org

We have a vibrant online community with many other contestants and families who will walk alongside you and encourage you and answer your questions throughout your NBB journey. Being part of a host group is not a requirement to participate or compete
