National Bible Bee was founded in 2009 with the mission to engage young people in the memorization and study of God’s Word and provide opportunities to proclaim it through local, national and broadcast competitions.
National Bible Bee developed a Summer Study to help cultivate not only a heart to memorize God’s Word but also to understand and apply Scripture to daily life. National Bible Bee headquarters is located in San Antonio, Texas.
National Bible Bee has two seasons:

- National Bible Bee Competition
Summer Study
The Summer Study is an 8-week study where participants are encouraged to explore Scripture through reading, memorization, application, and activities. The Summer Study includes:
- The Discovery Journal

Competition
Summer study participants ages 7–18 are eligible to take the National Bible Bee Competition Qualifying Test. The highest-scoring participants will be invited to compete in the National Bible Bee Competition.
Contestants compete for over $100,000 in prize money in a heart-grabbing competition. Contestants compete in Scripture knowledge and memorization as they “know God’s word and make Him known”.

Discovery Journal
The Discovery Journal is an 8-week inductive study that launches the students on a journey through the Scriptures. The study teaches the student to explore the Bible using study tools and methods. Each student will gain deeper knowledge of the Bible through reading and memorization. The Discovery Journal is the official Summer Study resource for all registered participants. It comes in four editions based on age.
It’s not just for summer! Published Discovery Journals can be used as a Bible study any time of the year. This study is designed for individuals 5+.
