Isabella Morganthal shares her testimony with us and explains how the impact that studying and memorizing God’s Word has made in both her teen and adult years.
Isabella is a self-published author, creative arts director, writing coach, and National Bible Bee alumna. She loves talking about Jesus, encouraging others to memorize God’s Word, and she is passionate about fighting against human trafficking.
“I participated in the National Bible Bee from 2011-2015. Although I had grown up memorizing and reading the Bible, when I joined National Bible Bee I gained a deep love for those things. Studying the Bible was no longer something I ‘had’ to do as a Christian, it was something I wanted to do. I fell in love with God’s Word deeper than I had before. The verses I memorized changed my life. The passages I studied impacted me in so many ways.
As a teenager doing National Bible Bee, I learned to cut back on certain activities like social media or TV to spend dedicated time studying the Word of God. That prepared me as an adult to learn–even in the most crazy times–to put aside specific time for God. I have learned that God’s Word and a relationship with Him is the most important thing in my life and should always come first, so I do my best to have my time with Him before everything else. I’m not perfect at this by any means! But I’m learning and growing.
At the moment, I am pursuing writing and blogging full time, as well as a writer’s coaching business I launched with a friend. I have many dreams for my future, but my ultimate goal is to serve Jesus wherever He may lead me in my future and to glorify Him most of all with the offering of my life to His service. Someday I would especially love to serve His people in Uganda.
If I were to give advice to a young person thinking about their future, I would remind them that the One who created them and loves them more than they can fathom is the One holding their future. The future doesn’t always turn out how we think it should and that’s okay. It’s important to remember to trust Jesus with all our hearts and remember that He has good plans for our future, whether things turn out how we think they should or not. (Proverbs 3:5-6; Jeremiah 29:11).
My time studying for National Bible Bee impacted me in many ways, but most importantly it drew me closer to Jesus and allowed me to fill my heart with many, many Scripture passages that still come back to me when I need them most. The Word of God is powerful and when you spend so much time filling your life with it, you’re going to be a different person.”
