5 Tips for Studying Efficiently with Minimal Time

June 12, 2024

It can be difficult to feel like you are studying well or to be motivated by your progress when you don’t have much time to do so. Summer can be a busy time for some, and it can be discouraging when things don’t go as planned.

Included below are some tips on using your study time to the best of your ability!

#1. It’s important to start off with smaller and simpler goals that lead to a larger, end goal. This tends to leave you more motivated, as you are completing more things while working toward a big milestone or accomplishment.

#2. One way to make the most of your time is to download audio files for your memory passages and the summer study passage to listen to on the go, whether you are on a drive, walking to and fro, doing chores, eating lunch, or when doing other things. There are several apps where this can be done, or you could even record yourself reading. Even if you cannot solely focus on the passages, it will be so much easier to learn when you are focused on it, because your brain has heard it several times and begun to commit it to memory.

#3. Set a study schedule that works best for you. For example, if you are able to wake up earlier, set aside some time at the beginning of the day to review material, complete a day of the Discovery Journal, read through a couple chapters of the study passage, review a completed Discovery Journal unit, or work through some of the memory passages.

#4. When you are able to devote some time to the summer study, try your best to limit distractions. This can mean turning off electronic devices, removing items that will distract you, and going to a quiet place if it is difficult to focus in a loud and busy environment.

#5. Keep meditating on the Word when you study, even if it is rushed. You will find your studies to be all the more rewarding and effective if it is based on the desire to ultimately learn more about the Lord and His Word, and it will be something to encourage and motivate you!

Everyone’s schedule and learning style is different, and it’s important to assess what is best for you. It may take some trial and error, and include weeks of trying out new methods and ideas, but remember that it’s all to the glory of God!
