Local Contest
Local Bible Bee Contests are an essential part of the National Bible Bee Competition, in that they are used by Bible Bee Headquarters to identify qualified contestants for the National Contest. These Local Contests are planned and hosted by Local Planning Committees—teams of volunteers who have a shared vision and desire to see children and youth grow in their knowledge of God and the Bible. Local Contests may be small or large and may be organized by any motivated group of people, including parents, teachers, church attenders, and/or Christian business persons. A chairman for the Local Planning Committee must be selected; that individual will have the assistance of a Bible Bee Headquarters Event Planner as he or she leads the committee in Local Contest preparation.
Local Bible Bee Contests will be conducted throughout the United States on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Contestants compete with others in their own age group, completing both written and oral tests comprised of Bible Memory and Bible Knowledge questions. Scores are compiled locally and sent to Bible Bee Headquarters. One hundred finalists from each of the three age groups will then advance to the National Contest.
While we do not require LPCs to host a minimum number of contestants, we highly recommend that you strive to have at least seven contestants competing in each age group.
